Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday and praised his efforts in making the state “more secure.” The ambassador also engaged with UP’s Agriculture Minister, Surya Pratap Shahi, focusing on ways to enhance agricultural practices through technology and marketing.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Azar expressed gratitude to Adityanath for his support of Israel and his hospitality. He stated, “Congratulations to you for your work in making #UttarPradesh more secure and prosperous. We are committed to working on the issues discussed.”
After the meeting, CM Adityanath highlighted the “deep bond” between Uttar Pradesh and Israel, mentioning that their discussions marked a step forward in strengthening cooperation in mutual interests.
Minister Shahi shared insights from their talks, emphasizing the importance of technology in agriculture. The two leaders discussed expanding technical partnerships, particularly in connecting small farmers with Israeli-supported centres of excellence currently operational in Kannauj and Basti.
Shahi mentioned, “An Israeli delegation would visit one of the two centres of excellence in Kannauj on Wednesday.” Additionally, plans were made to establish two more centres of excellence in Kaushambi and Chandauli in eastern UP.
The ambassador encouraged the participation of Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming Agritech Exhibition scheduled for 2025. Shahi also noted that UP has been actively leveraging technology to enhance its agricultural sector.
Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, reported that UP had sent the highest number of workers to Israel from India, with 4,415 workers dispatched by July. Recruitment drives were held in Lucknow for candidates seeking jobs in Israel, particularly in construction, a sector that has seen changes due to the ongoing war on Gaza, leading to increased opportunities for Indian workers.
