A controversy has erupted regarding an RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) event being organized on the premises of a government school near Surathkal, Karnataka in defiance of the state government’s restrictions on schools for government- related activities only.

A video capturing the event went viral and sparked public outrage in which RSS activity can be seen at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School in Mangalpete.

Based on the regulations set by the Karnataka government, school premises are to be used for programmes related to government work, completely prohibiting events not related to educational activities. However, the RSS is alleged to have been organizing its activities inside the school every Sunday. The issue was brought forth by the local Gram Panchayat and education department.

The school administrators informed the presence of RSS to the local authorities on a regular basis.
