A 24-year-old Dalit woman died at Mainpuri District Hospital after being found injured under suspicious circumstances near her village in the Alau area on Saturday evening. The victim, who had been returning home from a friend’s house in the same village after dinner, was discovered unconscious in a field.

The victim’s brother has alleged that Govind Singh (alias Ramu) and four accomplices murdered his sister over a financial dispute. According to the brother, the woman had loaned approximately 5 lakh rupees to Govind, a resident of a neighboring village, with whom she had a close relationship. The brother’s complaint suggests that the victim had been demanding repayment of the loan, which may have led to the fatal confrontation.

He said, “She went to meet her friend and was supposed to return home with her. In the evening, a villager informed us that my sister was lying unconscious in a field. We rushed to the spot, took her to the police station, and then to the district hospital, where she was declared dead.”

The victim’s uncle has further accused Govind of murdering her and dumping her body in a field near Vidhya Nagar. He reiterated that the woman had been demanding the repayment of the money she had lent Govind.

Following the complaint, a case has been registered under various sections, including Section 103 (murder) of the BNS Act and the SC/ST Act, given the victim’s Dalit identity. Savita Senger, the station house officer of Alau police station, confirmed that the body has been sent for a postmortem examination and assured that further action would be taken based on the findings.
