Serious allegations have been levelled against an Urdu lecturer and the principal of a government inter college in the Sirathu area of Kaushambi district, with students accusing the lecturer of harassment, coercion and inappropriate conduct involving outsiders.
ABVP Stages Protest, Submits Memorandum
On Tuesday, activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at the district headquarters in Manjhanpur along with students and submitted a memorandum to the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS), demanding action.
According to the complaint, students of the Government Inter College in Sirathu alleged that the Urdu lecturer pressured students into participating in Islamic prayers and attempted to influence them religiously. Some students also accused the lecturer of compelling Hindu students to study Urdu and participate in religious practices against their wishes.
The memorandum, submitted under the leadership of ABVP co-minister Antara Kesarwani, further alleged that the lecturer invited relatives to the college premises, who allegedly engaged in misconduct with female students, including harassment, seeking mobile numbers and inappropriate behaviour.
Students also claimed that complaints made to the principal did not lead to any action.
Authorities Say Inquiry Has Been Initiated
Responding to the allegations, Rajesh Singh said the complaint was received recently and an inquiry had already been initiated.
According to Singh, an inspection was conducted at the college with the local Circle Officer and police station in-charge. He said CCTV cameras were installed on campus and claimed that no outsiders were permitted entry except parents or guardians.
The DIOS said action would be taken if the allegations are found to be true following the inquiry.
