The body of a 14-year-old girl was discovered in an open field near Sehpora village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday, sparking outrage among local residents.
According to initial reports, the victim was with her sister when she was allegedly abducted. While her sister managed to escape, the minor was later found dead.
Police responded to the scene, with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal confirming that a case has been registered. “A forensic team from Srinagar is assisting in the investigation,” Poswal told reporters, vowing that the culprits would be identified and punished.
As news of the incident spread, angry locals staged protests, demanding justice for the victim.
The exact circumstances of her death remain unclear, with authorities awaiting autopsy results.
