Delhi Blast

Delhi Police on Tuesday registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act in connection with the powerful blast near the Red Fort that killed nine people and injured many others. Officials said multiple raids were being carried out across the city as part of the ongoing investigation. The national capital has been placed on high alert, with heightened security at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that investigators were exploring every possibility. “All possibilities are being explored and a thorough investigation will be conducted, taking all options into account,” he said.

According to hospital authorities, six out of the nine victims have been identified so far at Lok Nayak Hospital. Meanwhile, several families of the injured have accused authorities of poor management and a lack of communication while waiting for updates about their loved ones.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed grief over the tragedy and urged people to stay calm and avoid spreading rumours. “This incident is extremely distressing and alarming. My deepest sympathies are with those who lost their loved ones,” she said. Ms. Gupta, along with Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood, visited LNJP Hospital to meet the injured and assess the situation.

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her condolences to the families of the victims. “I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the blast that has taken place in Delhi. I pray for the quick recovery of those injured,” she said in a statement.

The Chandni Chowk market remained closed on Tuesday following the blast, as fear spread among traders. “The shops in Chandni Chowk will be closed on Tuesday, as there is fear among traders after the blast,” said Sanjay Bhargava, president of the Chandni Chowk Traders Association. He added that the explosion was so powerful that it shook nearby buildings. “There was chaos in the market as people started running,” he recalled.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his condolences and assured support for the victims. “May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.
