An Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Preliminary reports say there were 242 people on board.
Eyewitnesses saw thick black smoke rising from the Meghani area near the airport. “We saw a big blaze and smoke billowing,” one resident told reporters.
Local villagers rushed to the scene to help, and rescue teams have been mobilised. However, officials haven’t yet confirmed any casualties or given details on the cause of the crash.
Authorities say the situation is developing and more information will follow once investigations begin. Search and rescue efforts are currently underway.
