Aligarh: FIR Against MANUU Scholar, Former AMU Student Leader Talha Mannan for ‘Inflammatory Speeches’ at Fee Protest

A case has been filed in Aligarh against Talha Mannan, a PhD scholar at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, and former student leader of AMU, along with 8–10 unidentified companions. The complaint was lodged by Sanjay Arya of Hindu Raksha Dal, who accused them of making “inflammatory speeches” and wearing the Palestinian scarf during a student protest.

Talha had reached Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on August 13 to extend support to students sitting on a protest at Bab-e-Syed gate against the recent fee hike. With a Palestinian flag draped around his neck, he joined the demonstration and reportedly raised slogans in solidarity with the students.

Police said that an FIR has been registered under multiple charges. CO Civil Lines Sarvam Singh said, “Statements made during the protest, along with CCTV footage, are being thoroughly examined. A case has been filed against Talha Mannan and unidentified persons.”
