The police investigation into the violent mob attack in Harduaganj on May 24 has taken a significant turn. A forensic laboratory confirmed that the seized meat sample was not from a cow or any cow progeny, said SP Rural Amrit Jain.

On May 24, a mob attacked four men, suspecting them of transporting illegal cow meat. The victims were immediately rescued by the police and admitted to the hospital.

SP Amrit Jain told the media,“The meat sample was sent to a government laboratory for testing. The forensic report confirmed it was not of cow or any cow progeny. We are investigating the entire sequence of events and will take action based on our findings.”

Four people named in the FIR filed by the victims have already been arrested. Police are still searching for others involved in the attack. Earlier reports said 12 people were accused, with 25 others unnamed.

Opposition leaders have condemned the attack and demanded strict action. Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, who visited the hospital, said,

“This mob attack was orchestrated to polarise society.”

He called for a fast-track court to handle the case.

Congress leaders, including MP Imran Masood and former MP Kunwar Danish Ali, also met the injured men in the hospital.

A Samajwadi Party delegation led by Rajya Sabha member Ramji Lal Suman is expected to visit Aligarh to meet the victims and offer support.
