The Allahabad High Court has granted approval for the inspection of the Shahi Eidgah Mosque in Mathura amid the ongoing Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Eidgah Mosque dispute. The court is set to decide on the constitution of a commission to survey on December 18.

This move by the court marks a significant development in the protracted dispute over the religious site. The decision, rendered by Justice Mayank Kumar Jain, follows an application filed by the deity Bhagwan Shri Krishna Virajman and seven others. The application is part of an original suit pending in the court and asserts that Lord Sri Krishna’s sacred birthplace is situated beneath the mosque.

The application contends that the mosque exhibits visible indications of being a Hindu temple, citing a lotus-shaped pillar and an image of Sheshnaag, a Hindu deity associated with Lord Krishna.

The suit not only seeks a declaration that the disputed land, including the location of the Shahi Eidgah Mosque, belongs to the deity Lord Shree Krishna Virajman but also requests a directive to the defendants, including the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board, to remove the mosque.

In a parallel move, the Allahabad High Court has transferred two new suits related to the dispute to itself and instructed the District Judge in Mathura to notify relevant parties about the transfer.
