The annual Amarnath Yatra—one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages in Jammu and Kashmir—is scheduled to begin on July 3, 2025, and will continue till August 19, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri announced on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Bidhuri confirmed that comprehensive preparations are underway to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims. “All necessary arrangements—including security, logistics, and infrastructure—are being finalized to guarantee a smooth and safe pilgrimage,” he said.

The pilgrimage, which involves trekking to the sacred Amarnath Cave in the Himalayas, attracts lakhs of devotees each year. Given the scale of the event, the administration is maintaining heightened coordination between civil departments and security forces.

The Div Com also gave an update on ongoing developmental projects in the Valley. “Two out of the three major bridges currently under construction have been completed. Work on the Sanat Nagar Bridge is in full swing,” he said, adding that both the Roads and Buildings Department and the NHAI are supervising to maintain high engineering standards.

Bidhuri said special security arrangements have been put in place at key religious sites including Tral, Charar-e-Sharif, and Baramulla.

On a question about the government directive to install CCTV cameras inside school buses, Bidhuri confirmed that a timeline has been set for implementation. “The measure is being taken to ensure the security and safety of school-going children,” he said.
