Sabih Khan, an Indian-American technology veteran, has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Apple Inc. He is set to officially take over from Jeff Williams later this month. Khan, currently Apple’s Senior Vice President of Operations, has been with the company for nearly 30 years and is recognized as a key architect of Apple’s extensive global supply chain.
Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Khan’s leadership, calling him a “brilliant strategist” who has helped Apple stay agile despite global challenges. Cook also highlighted Khan’s values and vision, expressing confidence in his capabilities as COO.
Jeff Williams, the outgoing COO, will remain at Apple until his retirement later this year, focusing on the design team and the Apple Watch division during this period.Born in 1966 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Sabih Khan moved to Singapore at the age of ten. He earned degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University, followed by a master’s in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before joining Apple, he worked at GE Plastics (now SABIC) in technical and leadership roles.
Khan joined Apple in 1995 and gradually rose through the ranks. He played a crucial role in shaping Apple’s supply chain and manufacturing operations. In 2019, he became Senior Vice President of Operations, where he led initiatives on green manufacturing, sustainability, and supplier responsibility, helping reduce Apple’s carbon footprint and promote ethical labor practices.
Under his leadership, Apple introduced advanced manufacturing technologies and expanded production capabilities in the U.S., strengthening the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
