‘Article 370 Abolition Opened Doors to Development in J&K’: PM Modi in Jammu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a packed crowd at Moulana Azad Stadium in Jammu, highlighting the significance of abolishing Article 370 in “fostering development” in Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated, “Article 370 was a barrier between the nation and the development of J&K. This barrier has been permanently removed by the BJP government.”

He criticized the previous ruling families, accusing them of prioritizing their power over the welfare of the people during their seven-decade reign.

Expressing his satisfaction at witnessing the end of the “70-year dynasty rule” in J&K, PM Modi said, “Those who governed J&K for seven decades neglected the marginalized sections of society, including the downtrodden.”

He said that there was a movie made on Article 370 that would be released soon. “This movie will help make people aware about certain important facts about Article 370,” he said.

PM Modi noted the shift from “violence to peace and development”.

“Education, Connectivity and development has replaced this all. Youth of J&K don’t need to go out of J&K for professional courses as Kashmir and Jammu regions are emerging as the educational hubs,” he said. “Far from hartals and bandhs, youth of J&K are scripting their own future.”

PM Modi also urged support for the BJP in the upcoming elections, stating, “I have urged the people to give BJP 370 seats in the Lok Sabha polls and over 400 seats to the NDA.” He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response from the people of Jammu and noted the widespread viewership of his speech across 280 blocks.

Regarding the recent surge in tourism and infrastructure development in J&K, PM Modi promised improvements, comparing the region favourably to Switzerland. He assured that weaker sections of society, including Valmikis, Safai Karamcharis, and Paharis, would receive their due share of benefits post-Article 370 abolition.

PM Modi mentioned the establishment of two IITs, two AIIMS, and an increase in medical colleges and seats. He interacted with beneficiaries of various schemes, seeking feedback on their experiences.

In conclusion, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the dreams of every citizen, saying, “My guarantee is final, and it ensures that everyone’s aspirations will be realized.”
