A youth from Assam’s Nagaon district died after reportedly falling from a moving train near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal while returning home from Kerala ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The deceased has been identified as Habibur Rahman, a resident of Thiatengoni village in Juria under Assam’s Nagaon district.
According to reports, Rahman was travelling back to Assam along with his son when the incident occurred in the New Jalpaiguri area.
Family Suspects Foul Play in Death
Family members have alleged that the youth may have been pushed from the moving train by unidentified individuals, raising suspicion of foul play behind the incident.
However, officials have not confirmed any such claim and have said that the exact circumstances are still under investigation.
Police Begin Investigation, Body Sent for Post-Mortem
Railway police recovered the body after the incident and sent it for post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the fall occurred and whether any external involvement was involved.
Police officials said they are examining all possible angles before reaching a conclusion.
