Ban on Journo Mirror’s YouTube Channel Is a Direct Attack on Press Freedom: Cogito Media Foundation

Saifur Rahman, Convenor of Cogito Media Foundation (CMF), has strongly condemned the 90-day ban imposed on the YouTube channel of Journo Mirror for publishing a factual and critical video featuring senior advocate Prashant Bhushan. He called the ban a direct assault on democracy and freedom of expression.

Rahman pointed out that since early 2025, independent media platforms and journalists across the country have been systematically targeted. He highlighted the increasing use of economic pressure, legal threats, and digital censorship to silence voices that raise grassroots issues and reveal uncomfortable truths.

“Journo Mirror’s only ‘crime’ was sharing a truthful and democratic critique with the public,” Rahman said. “When speaking the truth is treated as a crime, silence is not an option — this is precisely when we must raise our voices.”

The Cogito Media Foundation demands that YouTube immediately lift the ban on Journo Mirror and ensure that all independent journalists and media institutions can operate freely and without intimidation.

Saifur Rahman also appealed to democracy-loving citizens, journalists, and civil society groups to stand in solidarity with Journo Mirror and defend press freedom.
