A 23-year-old Bangladesh national was arrested at Mirzapur railway station in Uttar Pradesh after he was allegedly found travelling without valid documents, officials said on Sunday.
The man was identified as Riyaz Ahmed, a resident of Habiganj in Bangladesh. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel apprehended him on Saturday night after receiving an alert.
Officials said Ahmed was travelling in an air-conditioned coach of the Brahmaputra Mail, which runs between Kamakhya in Assam and Delhi. He was allegedly travelling without a ticket.
Police Say He Was Heading Towards Kashmir
During preliminary questioning, officials said Ahmed told them that he intended to travel to Kashmir and was heading towards Delhi.
Officials later checked his documents and found that he was allegedly not carrying a valid passport, visa or other documents authorising his entry into India.
The authorities are carrying out further verification to establish the circumstances of his entry into the country and his intended destination.
Further Investigation Underway
The RPF has initiated further legal proceedings in the matter. Officials said the investigation is continuing and additional details will be established after verification.
Authorities have not yet released further information about how Ahmed allegedly entered India or whether he was travelling alone.
