Tension has escalated in Madhya Pradesh’s capital after members of the Muslim community staged protests over alleged objectionable remarks made during the assault of a Muslim youth by Hindu organisation activists in Bhopal.
The protesters on Tuesday gathered outside the Police Commissioner’s office, demanding strict action against those accused of making controversial comments about Allah during the incident.
Police have now registered a case against members of a Hindu outfit based on complaints and viral videos circulating on social media.
Muslim Youth Assaulted in Hotel Over “Love Jihad” Allegation
The incident reportedly took place in a hotel located in the Gautam Nagar area under Govindpura police station limits. According to reports, activists of a Hindu organisation allegedly caught a Muslim युवक with a Hindu woman inside the hotel and accused him of “love jihad.”
Videos shared online allegedly showed the youth being beaten, partially stripped, and humiliated publicly. Reports also claimed that black paint and cow dung were smeared on his face during the assault.
The videos quickly went viral, triggering outrage and debate across the city.
Allegations of Offensive Religious Remarks
The controversy intensified after allegations emerged that objectionable comments targeting Allah were made during the assault.
Members of Muslim organisations said their protest was focused mainly on the alleged religious remarks rather than the personal relationship between the man and the woman.
“We oppose the abusive and objectionable language used against Allah. Strict action must be taken against those responsible,” protesters said during the demonstration.
Woman Says She Was in Relationship With Youth
Police officials said no legal action was taken against the Muslim youth because the woman involved told authorities that she had known him for nearly five years and was living with him in a live-in relationship.

According to police sources, the woman stated that she did not want any action against the youth.
Police Register FIR Based on Viral Videos
ACP Aditi Bhawsar said the assaulted youth himself had not yet filed any complaint regarding the attack. However, police initiated action after reviewing viral videos of the incident.
Initially, a case was registered against unidentified persons for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and promoting communal tension. Officials later confirmed that named FIRs have now been filed against some accused individuals linked to the Hindu organisation.
Protesters Warn of Larger Agitation
During Tuesday’s protest, members of the Muslim community blocked roads and demanded immediate arrests of the accused. Protesters warned that if police fail to take strict action, a larger agitation would be launched in the city.
Heavy police deployment was seen around the Commissioner’s office and nearby areas to maintain law and order. Senior officers, including multiple ACPs and station in-charges, were present during the demonstration.
