A 25-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Bihar’s Siwan district after being taken away from his home by a group of villagers, according to a complaint filed by his wife.
The incident took place in Shivrajpur village under the jurisdiction of Barharia police station on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Shahzad Ali.
Wife Alleges Villagers Took Husband Away From Home
In a written complaint submitted to police, Shahzad’s wife, Mobina Khatoon, alleged that several men arrived at their home on the morning of May 30, called her husband outside, and took him away.
She claimed that four to five hours later, the family received information that Shahzad had died. Upon reaching the spot, she allegedly found multiple injury marks on his body.
FIR Names Eight Accused
Mobina alleged that Amit Chaudhary alias Avadhesh Chaudhary, Pramendra Manjhi, Chhatthu Manjhi, Avadh Kishore Chaudhary, Guddu Manjhi, Ranjan Chaudhary, Mantu Kumar, and others were involved in the assault. All the named accused are residents of Shivrajpur village.

According to the complaint, Shahzad was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten with sticks and kicks, leading to his death. The complainant also alleged that around ₹5,000 in cash in Shahzad’s possession was taken during the incident.
Police Register FIR, Launch Investigation
Following the complaint, Barharia police registered an FIR against eight named individuals and launched an investigation.
Chhotan Kumar said police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and sent the body for post-mortem examination at Siwan Sadar Hospital.
Raids Underway, Security Tightened
Police said raids are underway to arrest the accused, who are currently absconding. Additional security has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
The allegations are based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s wife. Police said the exact circumstances surrounding Shahzad Ali’s death will be established following a detailed investigation and post-mortem findings.
