The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday appointed Bihar minister Nitin Nabin as its National Working President, replacing incumbent party chief JP Nadda. The decision was taken by the BJP parliamentary board and has come into effect immediately.
The appointment was announced through an official notification issued by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh. “The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed Shri Nitin Nabin, Minister, Government of Bihar, as the National Working President of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” the notification said.
Nitin Nabin is currently a minister in the Bihar government and serves as the MLA from Bankipur constituency in Patna. He also holds the portfolio of the Public Works Department in the state cabinet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nabin on his new role and praised his political journey and organisational work. In a post on X, Modi said, “Shri Nitin Nabin Ji has distinguished himself as a hardworking karyakarta. He is a young and industrious leader with rich organisational experience and has an impressive record as MLA as well as Minister in Bihar for multiple terms. He has diligently worked to fulfil people’s aspirations. He is known for his humble nature and grounded style of working. I am confident that his energy and dedication will strengthen our party in the times to come.”
Nitin Nabin is the son of the late BJP leader Nabin Kishore Sinha. He began his political career through student politics with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad before gradually building a strong organisational base in Patna. He entered electoral politics in 2010 and has since been elected consecutively from the Bankipur seat.
Within the party, Nabin has also worked with the BJP Yuva Morcha and has been given several organisational and election-related responsibilities in recent years. He was part of the party’s campaign efforts in states such as Chhattisgarh, where the BJP secured a decisive victory.
Party leaders described him as one of the younger faces to take up the national leadership role, noting his experience in governance, organisation building and public service.
