Boxing Champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Embraces Islam

World-renowned boxer Gervonta Davis announced his conversion to Islam by taking the shahada. The moment was shared across popular YouTube channels, with FightHype.com and Akhi TV prominently featuring the clip.

Akhi TV, in particular, celebrated Davis’s decision, pinning a message that read, “Alhamdulillah, Gervonta is now a Muslim Mashallah. Welcome Tank to the brotherhood.”

In a tweet today, WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack welcomed boxing star Gervonta Davis to Islam, saying, “Welcome to Islam, brother Gervontaa. Alhamdulillah.”

UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad also joy his acceptance of Davis’ decision, tweeting his support.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis, born on November 7, 1994, has etched his name in the annals of American professional boxing. With a career spanning multiple weight classes, Davis boasts an impressive record, currently holding the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight title since 2019. A former three-division world champion, he clinched five world titles and stands proudly at No. 10 in ESPN’s pound-for-pound rankings. Recognized as the No. 3 lightweight in ESPN’s divisional rankings, Davis secured victories in notable bouts, including a TKO triumph against Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2019 and a unanimous decision over Issac Cruz in 2021 for the WBA (regular) super lightweight title.
