A Muslim buffalo trader was allegedly stopped, assaulted and robbed by a group of men while returning home from his in-laws’ house in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district.

The victim, identified as Afshar Ali, was travelling through the Jamdura area under Karari police station limits when the alleged incident took place.

According to Ali, the men stopped him on the road and questioned him about his earnings. He alleged that they taunted him, saying, “You earn so much, can’t you even buy us some liquor?”

The confrontation allegedly turned violent soon afterwards. Ali claimed that the group beat him and took Rs 4,500 from his pocket before fleeing the area.

Victim Alleges Police Inaction

After the incident, Ali reportedly approached Karari police station but alleged that no concrete action was taken on his complaint.

He later met the district Superintendent of Police and appealed for justice, seeking strict action against those responsible.

A video purportedly showing the assault surfaced on social media on Wednesday, prompting users to demand action against the alleged attackers.

Kaushambi Police Assure Legal Action

Kaushambi Police said in a social media post that legal proceedings were being ensured in connection with the incident.

The police also said that a case was being registered at Karari police station.

The allegations of assault and robbery have not yet been adjudicated by a court. Further details about the FIR, the identities of the accused and any arrests were not immediately available.
