Dalit Girl Thrown into Hot Oil for Protesting Molestation, Three Arrested

OIG 17

An 18-year-old Dalit girl was reportedly thrown into a hot cauldron at a jaggery-making unit after protesting against molestation in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun.

The victim, now undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital in Delhi, suffered serious burn injuries.

The police have arrested three persons, including the cauldron owner.

The girl, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, worked at Pramod’s cauldron in a village. Her brother filed a complaint at Binauli police station, stating that on Wednesday, Pramod, Raju, and Sandeep molested and misbehaved with his sister while she was working at the cauldron.

When she protested, they allegedly threw her into the hot cauldron, using “casteist words” against her, before fleeing the scene.

Inspector M P Singh from Binauli police station stated, “On the complaint of her brother, police have registered a case against accused Pramod, Raju, and Sandeep under sections 354, 504, and 307 of the IPC, along with the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.”

“All three accused have been arrested, and further action is being taken in the matter,” he said.
