A 23-year-old Dalit woman has alleged that she was repeatedly raped, forcibly converted to Islam and confined inside a house in southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar over the past several years. Police have arrested four people in connection with the case, while the main accused, identified as Fahim, is currently lodged in jail in another case.

According to police, an FIR was registered at Jamia Nagar police station on May 14 after the woman approached authorities with allegations of rape, gang rape, criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement, forced religious conversion and physical assault.

Woman Claims Accused Hid Identity, Blackmailed Her

In her complaint, the woman alleged that in November 2021, a man introduced himself to her on Instagram as “Sahil” and claimed to belong to a Hindu family. She said the two remained in contact before she was allegedly called to a house in Batla House in March 2022.

The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted there and that videos of the incident were secretly recorded. She claimed the accused later used those videos to blackmail her and threaten to upload them online.

According to the FIR, she later discovered that “Sahil” was allegedly using a fake identity and that his real name was Fahim. She claimed she was subsequently taken to Meerut, where she faced further sexual assault.

Allegations of Forced Conversion and Confinement

The woman alleged that on May 27, 2022, she was taken at gunpoint to a madrasa in Agwanpur and forced to marry Fahim. She claimed her name was changed to “Ayesha” and that her Aadhaar details were altered after the conversion.

In her complaint, the woman accused Fahim, his father Khursheed and other family members of repeatedly assaulting her, confining her inside the house and threatening to kill her if she tried to escape.

She also alleged that another accused, identified as Tasleem Maulvi, pressured her to convert her religion and subjected her to abuse.

“He told me that since he cannot go out of India for Haj because of his criminal record, he must marry a Hindu woman and convert her to Islam to enter jannat,” the woman was quoted as saying.

The complainant further alleged that she was forced to clean and cook meat against her wishes and was assaulted if she refused. She also claimed that unknown men frequently visited the house and that she was sexually assaulted by some of them.

Police Action and Investigation

Police said four accused have been arrested so far, while a production warrant has been issued for Fahim, who is already in judicial custody in another matter.

Officials from southeast Delhi police said the case was registered in Jamia Nagar because the first alleged incident occurred in the Batla House area.

The woman said she eventually escaped in January 2025 after Fahim was sent to jail and moved to Ballabgarh with her three-year-old daughter. However, she alleged that threats continued even after she left.

“In May this year, I went to the railway station with my daughter to end my life, but someone stopped me and connected me with NGOs. After that, I approached the police,” she said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and more details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
