A Delhi court has cleared three men of all charges connected to the 2020 Delhi riots. The Karkardooma Court on Thursday acquitted Irshad, Aqeel, also known as Papad, and Rais Khan in a case from Dayalpur Police Station that accused them of looting, arson and damaging property. The court said the evidence against them was weak and unreliable.

Advocate Saleem Malik, who represented Irshad on behalf of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, argued that the case was built on suspicion and bias rather than facts. He told the court that much of the evidence was misleading and could not stand up to scrutiny. The judge agreed, saying the charges were baseless.

The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, led by Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, has been helping victims of the riots for the past five years. The group has provided both legal aid and humanitarian support. It has been involved in hundreds of cases and has helped many accused people get bail or be acquitted.

Speaking about the verdict, Maulana Madani said, “This shows that patience, hard work and legal efforts can bring justice. We are proud of our lawyers and happy for the families who have finally got relief.”

The acquittal adds to a growing list of riot cases where courts have found no solid evidence against the accused, raising questions about how these cases were investigated.
