Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his gratitude and joy over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) historic victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly election, marking the party’s return to power in the national capital for the first time in over two decades.
In a post shared on X, the Prime Minister attributed the BJP’s triumph to the power of “development and good governance”, saying, “Development (and) good governance (has) won.” He went on to extend his heartfelt thanks to the people of Delhi, saying, “My salute and congratulations to all my brothers and sisters of Delhi for giving a historic victory to BJP… I am very grateful to all of you from the bottom of my heart…”
The BJP’s decisive win marks a major defeat for the outgoing ruling party, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been in power in Delhi since 2015. This victory signals a shift in Delhi’s political landscape after 27 years of AAP dominance.
