A statement by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has triggered fresh political and social debate after he urged people to have more children and dedicate one to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Speaking at a religious gathering in Nagpur, Shastri said, “Give birth to four children and dedicate one to the RSS for the welfare of the nation.”
The remark was made during a foundation stone laying ceremony and Dharma Sabha event, where he also praised the role of RSS workers in disaster situations.
“Whenever a crisis comes, common people try to save themselves, but RSS volunteers stand firm and help others. The country needs such dedicated people,” he said.
Top Leaders Present at Event
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Shastri also expressed confidence that significant changes could take place in the country during Bhagwat’s tenure and stressed the need to prepare youth for “service to religion and nation.”
Mixed Reactions Across Political and Social Circles
The statement quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp and divided reactions.
Supporters described it as a call to encourage youth participation in nation-building and voluntary service. Critics, however, raised concerns about personal freedom, population policies, and the appropriateness of such appeals.
Some political voices have termed the remark “controversial” and questioned whether such statements align with constitutional values and individual choice.
Not the First Time
This is not the first time Shastri’s remarks have stirred debate. In previous speeches, he has spoken about what he described as a “crisis” on Sanatan Dharma and called for unity among its followers. He has also advocated for a stronger cultural and religious identity in India.
