Police have confirmed through DNA analysis that Dr. Umar Nabi was driving the car that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week. Officials said forensic experts matched DNA samples from the blast site with those of Umar’s mother, confirming his identity.

“The results conclusively establish that it was Umar who was driving the vehicle that detonated,” a senior police officer told PTI.

Umar Nabi, who was from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, had been identified as a key member of a recently busted “white-collar terror network”, allegedly linked to banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

The explosion took place on Monday evening when a car moving slowly near the Red Fort suddenly blew up, causing panic in the area.

Just hours before the blast, police had arrested eight people, including three doctors, in connection with the same network. During raids in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, authorities seized nearly 3,000 kilograms of explosive materials such as ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate, and sulphur.
