DRDO Guest House Manager Mahendra Prasad Arrested in Jaisalmer for Spying for Pakistan

Jaisalmer spy arrested

The Rajasthan Police CID (Security) Intelligence has arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Mahendra Prasad, on charges of spying for a Pakistani intelligence agency. Prasad, originally from Palyun village in Almora, Uttarakhand, was working as the manager of the DRDO Guest House at the Chandan Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer — a key site for India’s missile and weapon trials.

CID (Security) IG Dr. Vishnukant said the arrest came amid heightened security surveillance in the run-up to Independence Day. “We have been closely monitoring anti-national and subversive activities. Information emerged about Mahendra Prasad’s suspicious links with a Pakistani handler, which prompted a detailed investigation,” he said.

According to the CID, Prasad maintained contact with the Pakistani intelligence operative through social media. He allegedly passed on sensitive details about the movement of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers visiting the range for strategic defence equipment testing.

Following his detention, Prasad was jointly interrogated by multiple security agencies, and his mobile phone was forensically examined. Officials say the probe confirmed that he had shared classified operational information with his handler in Pakistan.

Prasad was formally arrested under espionage charges, and investigators are now working to determine the full scope of the security breach, including whether other individuals were part of the network.
