The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) and Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JIJK) have announced an alliance to work together for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The decision was made during a meeting between the two parties, led by AIP Chief Er Rashid.
AIP issued a statement saying that both parties discussed the current situation in the region and agreed to support each other’s candidates in key areas. “We believe this alliance will help bring peace and development to Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement said.
As part of the deal, AIP will support JEI-backed candidates in Kulgam and Pulwama, while JEI will support AIP candidates across other parts of Kashmir. In some areas, like Langate, Devsar, and Zainapora, both parties will have candidates, but they have agreed to a “friendly contest.”
“Unity is essential for resolving the issues of Jammu and Kashmir,” said a spokesperson for the alliance. “Together, AIP and JEI will work towards a peaceful and dignified future for the people here.”
The alliance also said that they cannot sit on the sidelines while the political landscape is changing rapidly. “Both parties understand the need to be active and work for the welfare of the people,” the statement added.
