Former Iranian President Alleges Israeli Intelligence Has Penetrated Iran’s Top Secret Services

Days after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by an Israeli airstrike, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has alleged that Israeli intelligence had infiltrated Iran’s top leadership, reports claim.

Ahmadinejad claimed that a unit established to counter Israel was led by a Mossad agent. He revealed that this agent, along with 20 others, was involved in stealing Iranian nuclear documents in 2018 and orchestrating the assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists.

He also alleged that Israel carried out sophisticated espionage operations inside Iran, stating that the head of Iran’s anti-Mossad division was exposed as an Israeli spy in 2021.

The Israeli military’s airstrike on September 27 in Beirut, which killed Nasrallah, has fueled concerns about espionage within Iran’s regime.

Israel’s ongoing airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon have caused significant casualties, with the Lebanese Health Ministry reporting over 960 deaths and more than 2,770 injuries.

The strikes have also killed several Hezbollah’s top commander.

These events are occurring amidst ongoing cross-border clashes between Hezbollah and Israel, which began during Israel’s war on Gaza, a conflict that has resulted in nearly 41,600 deaths, mainly among women and children.
