Former Shiv Sena Corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar Shot Dead in Mumbai During Facebook Live Session

Former Shiv Sena corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar was fatally shot during a Facebook Live session in Mumbai on Thursday evening, as reported by The Times of India. The assailant, identified as Mauris Noronha, was later found dead, suspected to have died by suicide.

Ghosalkar, son of former MLA Vinod Ghosalkar, was shot in the northwestern suburb of Borivali and succumbed to his injuries at Karuna Hospital. Ghosalkar and Noronha had a history of disputes, with tensions escalating over the past couple of years.

Despite this, they purportedly agreed to reconcile their differences during the ill-fated Facebook Live session.

The incident unfolded when Noronha allegedly lured Ghosalkar to his office under the pretext of reconciliation. During the joint Facebook Live session, which was meant to discuss local welfare initiatives, Ghosalkar was shot after expressing their intention to collaborate.

Noronha’s body was discovered later in the day, seemingly indicating suicide.

The Mumbai Police are in the process of filing a murder case in connection with Ghosalkar’s killing and an accidental death report for Noronha’s demise. The shocking incident has elicited strong reactions from Shiv Sena leaders.

Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray expressed shock and outrage, condemning the breakdown of law and order in Maharashtra. Similarly, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut decried the prevailing “goonda raj” in the state and called for the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio.
