A local leader of the Hindu Yuva Vahini in Ghaziabad is wanted by police after allegedly raping a young law student who came to meet him for career guidance. The incident occurred on Thursday in Muradnagar area.
According to the victim’s complaint, Sushil Prajapati had promised to introduce her to senior lawyers at Ghaziabad court. “He called me saying he had arranged a meeting with an advocate,” the 23-year-old survivor told police. When she arrived, Prajapati took her to a flat instead.
“There he gave me a cold drink that made me feel dizzy. Before I knew it, he was attacking me,” the woman stated in her FIR. After the assault, the accused allegedly threatened her, saying “I have powerful political connections” before leaving her on the street.
Police confirmed they registered the case late Thursday night after the victim reached Muradnagar police station. “We are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” said Additional Police Commissioner Alok Priyadarshi. Medical tests were performed on the survivor as part of the investigation.
The case took a political turn when Bajrang Dal workers arrived at the police station supporting the victim. Hindu Yuva Vahini’s district president Ayush Tyagi Kakda said, “Our organization does not support anyone who harms women. Such people don’t belong with us.”
Local women’s rights activists have demanded strict action. “This shows how predators misuse power and political connections,” said Neha Sharma, a lawyer working with assault survivors. The incident has raised questions about safety of young professionals seeking career opportunities.
Police say they are investigating all angles of the case and expect to make an arrest soon. The survivor is currently receiving medical and legal support.
(Note: The victim’s identity is being protected as per standard procedure in sexual assault cases.)
