A feast hosted by BJP Bhadohi MP Vinod Kumar Bind at his office in Mirzapur’s Karsada turned into a chaotic scene on Thursday evening, after guests allegedly found mutton gravy served without any meat pieces. The situation quickly escalated when a guest, suspicious of the lack of meat in the dish, dipped his finger into the gravy and confirmed his doubts. Angered by the apparent oversight, he confronted the youth serving the food, leading to a heated exchange and physical altercation. The guest slapped the server, causing a ruckus that lasted for several minutes.
The altercation sparked a larger confrontation between the youth’s companions and the caterers, forcing other guests to leave the venue. A video clip showing guests leaving with food packets and the injured youth heading toward his motorcycle spread quickly on social media. Senior BJP members and local residents eventually intervened to diffuse the situation.
When reporters approached MP Bind at a public meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, asking about the party despite the model code of conduct being in effect, Bind declined to comment. However, Umashankar Bind, who manages the MP’s office, provided an explanation, saying that most of the invitees had already eaten, and preparations were underway to wind up the feast by 8:30 pm. He claimed that a group of youths, who had reportedly been drinking at a local liquor shop, entered the restricted venue, and one of them caused the disturbance before fleeing the scene. The whereabouts of the youths involved in the incident could not be determined, he added.
Vinod Kumar Bind, who won the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections as a BJP candidate, previously secured the Majhwan assembly seat in 2022 on a Nishad Party ticket. The by-poll for this seat is being contested by BJP’s Suchismita Maurya, who won the 2017 assembly election.
