Six people, including five members of a family from Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district and a man from Saharanpur, reportedly embraced Hinduism during a religious ceremony at Chandighat in Haridwar.
The ceremony was organised by Teerth Seva Nyas at its ashram in Chandighat under the guidance of its president, Teerthacharya Sant Ram Vishal Das Maharaj.
According to the trust, the participants took part in a Ganga bath and worship before a yagna, havan and other religious rituals. They were later given new names as part of a naming ceremony conducted amid Vedic chants.
Family Given New Names
The family consisted of Mahid, his wife Sabina Bibi and their three children. Following the religious rituals, Mahid was given the name Mohit, while Sabina was renamed Khushi.
Their two sons were given the names Roshan and Rohan, while their daughter was named Ananya.

Ibrahim, a resident of Saharanpur, also participated in the ceremony and was given the name Virat Pundir following the rituals.
Acharya Kuldeep Vidyarthi and Acharya Mukesh Shastri conducted the yagna, havan and naming ceremony.
The organisers said all six participants were presented with certificates following the ceremony. Saints and devotees present at the event welcomed them with flower showers and garlands.
Family Says Decision Was Voluntary
According to the organisers, Mohit said the family had taken the decision without any pressure and of their own choice.
He said they felt a sense of respect, compassion and peace in the Sanatan tradition.
Teerthacharya Sant Ram Vishal Das Maharaj said Sanatan Dharma was not limited to a form of worship but represented a way of life connected with truth, values, duty, service and good conduct.
He said people should respond with respect, harmony and support when individuals make decisions about their faith and way of life.
“Our objective is to strengthen awareness of religion, values and service in society,” he said, adding that traditions such as the Ganga, yagna, religious rituals and family values had an important place in Sanatan tradition.
Acharya Kuldeep Vidyarthi said society should rise above differences based on caste, language and region and work towards strengthening mutual harmony and cultural awareness.
Several saints and religious figures, including Mahant Karan Giri of Pilot Baba Ashram in Raiwala, Mahant Om Das of Palap Dev Ashram and Mahant Hitesh Das, were present at the ceremony.
