A disturbing video from Haryana’s Hansi area has surfaced online, allegedly showing a young Dalit man being tied up and suspended upside down over a well after being accused of stealing an electric motor.
The incident is reported to have taken place in Sorkhi village on June 1. According to the circulating footage, the man is seen tied by his legs with ropes and hung over a well, while a group of villagers confronts him over allegations of theft.
In the video, the victim can reportedly be heard crying for help as he is questioned and accused of stealing an electric motor and selling it to a scrap dealer. The footage also allegedly shows individuals beating him with sticks and pressuring him to confess.
At one point, the man is seen being lowered toward or into the well before being pulled back up, further intensifying concerns over the nature of the treatment shown in the clip.
Local police, however, have stated that they have not received any formal complaint regarding the incident so far. Officials added that no case has been registered at this stage.
