The Hindu Raksha Dal has announced plans to visit Darul Uloom Deoband in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district on August 11 and offer Ganga water at the Islamic seminary, claiming that a Shivling exists beneath its premises.
The announcement was made by Lalit Sharma, the Uttarakhand state president of the Hindu Raksha Dal, in a video message released on Saturday.
Hindu Raksha Dal Claims Shiv Temple Exists
Sharma said members of the organisation, led by its national president Pinky Chaudhary, would travel from Haridwar to Deoband carrying Ganga water.
The group claims that a Shiva temple or Shivling exists beneath the premises of Darul Uloom Deoband. However, the claim has not been independently established.
Sharma said the organisation had previously approached the Saharanpur administration seeking an inquiry into the allegation but claimed that no action was taken.
“Following this, we decided to visit the seminary and offer Ganga water,” he said, according to reports.
The proposed visit comes amid a series of disputes in Uttar Pradesh involving claims about the religious identity and history of places of worship.
Police Warn Against Disturbing Law and Order
Authorities in Deoband have said that they will take steps to prevent any situation that could disturb peace in the area.Deoband Circle Officer Amit Kumar Singh said the police would not allow anyone to disrupt law and order.
“Nobody will be permitted to disrupt law and order. Legal action will be taken against anyone who attempts to disturb the atmosphere,” Singh said.
The police are expected to monitor the situation around the seminary ahead of the proposed visit.
Darul Uloom Deoband in Focus
Darul Uloom Deoband is one of India’s most prominent Islamic seminaries and is located in Deoband, Saharanpur district. The institution has previously issued appeals asking students to avoid routes used by Kanwar Yatra processions to prevent possible tensions.
The latest announcement by the Hindu Raksha Dal has raised concerns over the possibility of a confrontation at the seminary. Authorities have said that maintaining peace and preventing any disturbance will be their priority.
The Hindu Raksha Dal’s allegation regarding a Shivling beneath the seminary remains a claim by the organisation and has not been established through any court ruling or official inquiry cited in the report.
