The killing of two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in Kishtwar district has sparked outrage, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Doda, Mehraj Malik, condemning the incident and holding the BJP and district administration accountable.

Malik said, “BJP under its Hindutva agenda has distributed weapons among people in Chenab Valley who don’t even know how to use them to win assembly elections. Ask the administration and police there. Two people were killed in Kishtwar because of them.”

The victims, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, both residents of Ohli, Kuntwara, were shot dead by militants on Thursday while they were grazing cattle in the Munzla Dhar forest in the Adhwari area of Kishtwar.

According to officials, when the two failed to return home by evening, police began searching the area. “We received information that my brother along with Ahmad was abducted and killed by terrorists. They were VDGs and had gone for grazing cattle as usual,” said Prithvi Kumar, Kuldeep’s brother.
