India Calls for Calm After Reports of Israeli Attacks in Qatar, Stresses Dialogue in West Asia

India has voiced concern over reports of Israeli airstrikes in Doha, Qatar, urging restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, “We have seen reports about the Israeli strikes in Doha earlier today. We are deeply concerned by this development and its impact on the security situation in the region.”

The strikes, reportedly carried out in and around the Qatari capital, have raised tensions across the Gulf. While details are still being verified, initial reports suggest damage to civilian infrastructure and heightened security alerts.

Calling for calm, the MEA stressed, “We strongly urge restraint and diplomacy, so that peace and security in the region are not endangered.”

India’s response reflects its long-standing position that disputes in West Asia must be resolved through dialogue, especially given the region’s importance to the Indian diaspora and its strong economic and strategic ties.

Qatar has yet to issue a formal statement on the reported strikes, while international observers have called for immediate de-escalation. No information has been confirmed regarding casualties or the exact nature of the targets.

India maintains close diplomatic relations with both Israel and Qatar and is expected to monitor the situation closely. The MEA may issue further advisories depending on how events unfold.
