India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to win the Champions Trophy 2025, claiming the title for a record third time at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Chasing 252, India reached the target in 49 overs. Rohit Sharma led from the front with a solid 76 (83), while Shreyas Iyer contributed 48 (62). KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya guided India across the finish line.

India got off to a strong start with a 105-run opening partnership between Rohit and Shubman Gill (31 off 50). However, New Zealand fought back. Glenn Phillips took a stunning catch to dismiss Gill, and Michael Bracewell trapped Virat Kohli for 1 (2).

Despite losing Rohit to stumping and Axar Patel for 29 (40), India remained composed. Shreyas Iyer’s partnership with Axar for 61 runs played a crucial role before KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya finished the chase.

Earlier, New Zealand scored 251/7 after winning the toss and batting first. Daryl Mitchell anchored the innings with a patient 63 (101), while Michael Bracewell provided a late surge with an unbeaten 53 (40).

India’s spinners controlled the game. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy each took two wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami claimed one wicket each.

Despite a promising 57-run opening stand by Rachin Ravindra (37) and Will Young (15), New Zealand struggled against India’s disciplined bowling. Kuldeep Yadav struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Rachin and Kane Williamson (11), leaving New Zealand under pressure.

India’s victory adds another Champions Trophy to their cabinet, marking their third title and further solidifying their dominance in world cricket.
