Infosys has terminated 240 trainees who “failed to meet the qualifying criteria” in their internal assessment tests. The firings, which were announced on April 18, follow a similar layoff of over 300 trainees in February. According to the emails sent to the affected individuals, they were informed that despite being given additional preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, and multiple attempts, they did not meet the necessary standards in the ‘Generic Foundation Training Program.’
The company has offered several support options to the affected trainees, including free upskilling programs in collaboration with NIIT and UpGrad, designed to help prepare for roles in the BPM industry or to continue improving their IT skills. The email also outlines outplacement services to assist them in finding new opportunities outside Infosys.
Moreover, Infosys is offering an Infosys-sponsored external training program in either Information Technology fundamentals or the BPM industry, with the possibility of reapplying to Infosys’ BPM division upon successful completion of the training.
The email also details various separation benefits, including one month’s ex-gratia pay, a relieving letter, accommodation support in Mysore, travel allowances, and counseling services.
