Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday carried out extensive raids across Kulgam, Sopore, and Shopian, targeting more than 200 locations linked to the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

In a statement, Kulgam Police said the raids focused on the homes and premises of JeI members and their associates, aiming to “dismantle the terror network and its grassroots support.” Over the past four days, authorities have conducted more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) across the district, “including the residences of overground workers (OGWs), JKNOPS members, previous encounter sites, and hideouts of active or deceased terrorists.”

The operations have led to the questioning of around 500 individuals connected to banned outfits, many of whom have been detained under preventive laws and shifted to District Jail Mattan in Anantnag. Police also seized incriminating materials and digital devices during the raids to trace and disrupt networks supporting terrorism.

On Tuesday, the police had also intensified vehicle checks across Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Shopian as part of the security drive.

Officials said that the Delhi blast was carried out in a panic by a member of a Jaish-e-Mohammed module, following multiple raids by security agencies that had dismantled the group’s hideouts and bases across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
