Police in Jammu and Kashmir have urged citizens to use social media responsibly and avoid posting or sharing any content that could spread hate or disturb public peace, especially in the wake of the recent blast at Delhi’s Red Fort.

In a statement, the police said that strict legal action would be taken against anyone spreading misinformation, hate speech, or anti-national propaganda online. They also cautioned people to stay alert against social media accounts operated from across the border, which, according to officials, are trying to provoke sentiments and create unrest.

“Baramulla Police urges all citizens to act responsibly on social media and contribute towards maintaining peace, unity, and public harmony in the Valley,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Shopian Police have taken note of a viral video shared through a Facebook page titled Voice of Humanity, in which a speech allegedly encouraged separatist tendencies and activities aimed at disturbing public order.

An FIR (No. 109/2025) has been registered at Police Station Zainapora, and an investigation has been launched. “Shopian Police reaffirm their commitment to maintaining peace and public order and will continue to take firm legal action against those attempting to disturb harmony or misuse social media platforms,” officials said.

Similarly, Budgam Police issued a separate advisory, urging citizens and WhatsApp group administrators to act with restraint and responsibility. The advisory followed reports of some users reacting insensitively to the Red Fort blast and circulating hateful or misleading content online.

“Any anti-national, communal, or sectarian activity will attract strict legal action under relevant laws,” Budgam Police said.
