Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district have filed two FIRs against men accused of violating a prohibitory order that bans the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Officials said the action was taken during routine naka checking in two separate police station areas.

At Manjakote, police apprehended Mohd Nasar, son of Mohd Yakoob and a resident of Dheri Raylote, after officers found a VPN app running on his mobile phone. An FIR (No. 107/2025) under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Manjakote.

In a similar incident, Darhal police registered FIR No. 73/2025 under Section 223 BNS against 38-year-old Mohd Mukhtar, son of Mohd Taj and a resident of Madhoon Dodaj. Police said he was carrying a mobile phone with an active VPN during a checking operation.

Authorities have urged the public to follow the District Magistrate’s order and avoid using VPN services in violation of the restrictions.
