WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange and his wife Stella Assange made a stunning entry at the Cannes Festival, with Assange revealing a T-shirt in which the names of nearly 5000 children killed in Israeli attacks were listed.
The couple appeared together on the red carpet, wearing a brooch with a picture of British designer Vivienne Westwood holding a sign that says, “Stop Killing.” An ardent supporter of WikiLeaks, Westwood designed protest T-shirts for her models on the runway. Assange was seen at the Festival wearing a shirt with the words ‘Stop Israel’ written on its back.
Assange was invited to attend the documentary screening of “The Six Billion Dollar Man,” directed by Emmy-winning director Eugene Jarecki. The documentary discloses Assange’s fight against extradition, using WikiLeaks footage, archives, and previously unpublished evidence.
His wife Stella Assange says that Assange is thinking of ways to be politically active once again after recovering from more than 10 years of incarceration.
“He’s very, very concerned about the state of the world and the state that we’re all in right now,” said Stella.
WikiLeaks in 2010 released hundreds of confidential documents on America’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He pleaded guilty last under a pact with the US Government to illegally possess and disclose national security materials.
His lawyer says that the documentary shows Assange in the way he has to be shown.
