Ganderbal police have solved a shocking rape and murder case within just one day, arresting the victim’s relative for the brutal crime. The incident occurred on July 12 when a local woman from Kondbal visited her sister-in-law’s home in Safapora.

Police initially thought the death was accidental when the woman’s body was brought to District Hospital Ganderbal. “From the start, we suspected foul play because the family’s story didn’t add up,” a police officer told Kashmir Dot Com. A special investigation team was immediately formed to handle the sensitive case.

The investigation revealed that the accused, Sajad Ahmad, took the victim to a hospital claiming she had tooth pain. “Instead of returning home, he took her to an isolated field,” the officer explained. “When she tried to escape, he pushed her violently, causing fatal head injuries before sexually assaulting her.”

Police found the crime scene after spotting blood stains on the road. “The killer tried to pass it off as a bathroom accident, but our team worked day and night to uncover the truth,” said another officer involved in the case.

Local residents praised the police’s quick action. “This shows no criminal can escape justice, no matter how clever they think they are,” said a Kondbal resident. SSP Khalil Poswal assured the public that crimes against women remain a top priority for police.

The accused is now in custody as legal proceedings continue. Police have urged people to report any suspicious activities immediately to help prevent such crimes.
