An Israeli airstrike on Sunday struck the Hujat Dost Ali hostel in Tehran, which houses many Kashmiri students. Several students suffered minor injuries, raising serious concerns about their safety amid escalating tensions in the region.

Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Member of Parliament from Srinagar, expressed concern over the incident. He tweeted that he has written to India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, urging immediate action to ensure the students’ safety, including their relocation within Iran or evacuation once the airspace opens.

He said, “An Israeli strike hit Hujat Dost Ali hostel in Tehran, injuring several Kashmiri students. I have written to EAM @DrSJaishankar urging their relocation or evacuation as soon as possible.”

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also addressed the situation, stating he is in close contact with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Iranian authorities. He assured that any decision on evacuation will prioritize the safety and security of the students.

Omar Abdullah posted on X, “I’m in touch with @MEAIndia regarding Kashmiri students in Tehran, Shiraz, Qom, and other Iranian cities. We will take necessary steps based on the ground situation to ensure their safety.”

Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), said, “We have received distress calls from Kashmiri students in different Iranian cities affected by the conflict. They are anxious and scared. We are coordinating with the MEA and preparing a list of students for urgent intervention and evacuation if needed.”
