BJP Chief Virendraa Sachdeva has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal of “provoking” and “frightening” slum dwellers in Delhi. Sachdeva assured that under the BJP-led government, poor people would be provided with permanent concrete houses.

“The Prime Minister has already stated that all public welfare schemes will continue, and the poor will get permanent houses. Yesterday, the Home Minister also reiterated that slum dwellers will receive houses. If anyone is truly solving their problems, it’s the double-engine government,” Virendraa Sachdeva said.

The BJP leader criticized Kejriwal, alleging that he has been misleading people by making promises but not fulfilling them. Sachdeva added, “Kejriwal provokes and frightens slum dwellers by claiming their homes will be demolished. On the other hand, it is Modi’s guarantee that every poor person will have a concrete house.”

The BJP has sharply criticized the AAP-led government for its handling of various issues, accusing it of corruption, inefficiency in implementing welfare schemes, and failure to tackle pollution in the city. The BJP has gone as far as labeling AAP’s governance as a “threat” to Delhi, drawing a parallel to the term “AAPda” to reflect the negative impact they believe the AAP administration has had on the capital.

In response, the AAP has called the BJP a “Galli Galoch party” and accused it of using “dishonest tactics” and engaging in “electoral fraud.”

The Delhi assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8. The last date for filing nominations is January 17, and the date for scrutiny of nominations is January 18. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is January 20.

In the previous assembly elections, the Congress party, which had been in power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, failed to win any seats. In contrast, AAP emerged dominant in the 2020 assembly elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured just 8 seats.
