K’taka: Muslim Inmates Protest for Fruits to Break Fast During Ramzan at Kalaburagi Jail

Muslim Inmates Protest for Fruits to Break Fast During Ramzan at Kalaburagi Jail 1 Kalaburagi

Muslim inmates at the Kalaburagi Central Jail, Karnataka, staged a protest on Monday, demanding that the authorities provide them with fruits to break their fast during Ramzan.

The prisoners told media that every year, either the jail authorities or various organizations would supply fruits to them during the holy month. This year, they received fruits for the first 10 days of fasting, but the supply was stopped after that.

The inmates claimed that the jail security staff had raised objections to providing fruits from outside during the evening meals, leading to the halt in the practice.

The protest ended after the Jail Superintendent assured the inmates that fruits would be provided to them throughout Ramzan, resolving the issue.
