Comedian Kunal Kamra has once again sparked controversy after posting a photograph on social media in which he appeared to mock the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The post has drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders in Maharashtra, who warned of possible police action against him for sharing what they called “objectionable” content.

Maharashtra minister and senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, “The police would take action against anyone who puts out such objectionable posts,” referring to Kamra’s Monday post, which showed him wearing a T-shirt with a dog and what was interpreted as a reference to the RSS.

Shiv Sena cabinet minister Sanjay Shirsat, whose party is an ally of the BJP, also condemned the post, insisting that Kamra’s remarks deserved a firm response. “Earlier, he targeted Prime Minister Modi and Eknath Shinde, and now he has dared to directly attack the RSS. The BJP needs to respond to this,” Shirsat said. He added, “We responded to his earlier comments on Shinde, and now he has mustered the courage to make an objectionable post against the RSS.”

This is not Kamra’s first controversy. In March this year, he faced backlash for criticizing Shinde, who leads the Shiv Sena, by altering lyrics of a popular Hindi film song during one of his comedy shows. Following that, Shiv Sena members vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai’s Khar area, as well as the hotel hosting the club.

Kamra responded to the latest uproar on social media, clarifying that the photograph referencing the RSS “was not clicked at a comedy club.” Despite his explanation, BJP leaders have condemned the post, describing it as provocative and disrespectful.
