A tribal woman was brutally raped and tortured with an iron rod in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday. She died before the police reached the scene.
The incident happened around 1 pm in the Roshni Chowki area of Khalwa, a tribal region.
According to police, the woman — a mother of two — was found unconscious by her daughter in a neighboring house. Police said the attacker inserted an iron rod into her private parts, pulled out her uterus, and left her bleeding on the floor. Her body parts were found scattered beside her.
Police have arrested two men, Hari Palvi (in whose house she was found) and Sunil Dhurve, who were acquaintances of the woman and are suspected of gang rape.
The woman’s body has been sent for postmortem at the Khandwa district hospital, where forensic experts are closely watching the examination. A senior police officer said, “The report will reveal further details.”
Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari reacted strongly on X (formerly Twitter), calling the crime a sign of lawlessness.
In Hindi, he posted: “This level of barbaric atrocities has surpassed even the ‘jungle raj’ of the primitive era.”
He added, “Such extreme acts of audacity can only happen when the fear of law has vanished in the state! The government is silent even on this level of oppression of the girls.”
